As we prepare for the 2016-2017 school year, we are constantly reviewing our processes to enhance parent/student experiences at Little Elm ISD.
We are excited to be able to continue our 1:1 Digital Learning, a program designed to loan one laptop to every student in 4th through 12th grades for an entire school year. The program provides an excellent opportunity to integrate technology with education and prepare our students for their future. However, we want to be diligent in protecting the school’s assets to sustain the program. We will continue the LoboCare Device Protection Plan this year with some minor changes you need to know.
WHAT’S MY FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY?
Students in Grades 9-12 will be checked out a brand new 13” MacBook Air. The LoboCare Device Protection Program will be $100 per device. Please visit www.myschoolbucks.com to pay and/or make payment arrangements.
Students in Grades 4-8 will be checked out a ChromeBook. The LoboCare Device Protection Program will be $45 per device. Please visit www.myschoolbucks.com to pay and/or make payment arrangements.
WHAT IF I NEED HELP PAYING?
Discounts may be available for those who have a financial need. Click here to access the Scholarship Application.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW THIS YEAR?
In order to manage the overall risk, our insurance company requires devices in grades 6-12 to be outfitted with a protective case. Cosmetic damage and scratches are not covered by the policy, only accidental damage that affects the functionality of the computer. Students who do not use the protective case may be subject to disciplinary action on their campus as well as risk of having insurance claims denied.
In addition, the LoboCare Device Protection Plan will include a deductible on claims this year. On the second claim, students/parents will be responsible for a $25 deductible to initiate a claim. Our hope is students will build a sense of ownership and take better care of their device.
Parents with four or more children in grades 4-12, please complete a scholarship application and indicate the number children in the household. Click here to access the Scholarship Application.
